Mechanical Draftsman

Job Purpose

To prepare accurate and detailed mechanical drawings and layouts using AutoCAD, ensuring drawings meet project requirements, engineering standards, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed mechanical drawings, layouts, fabrication drawings, and engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Develop drawings based on engineering concepts, sketches, specifications, and design inputs.
• Prepare and update GA drawings, component drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed drawings.
• Incorporate revisions and modifications as per engineering requirements.
• Ensure drawings comply with applicable engineering standards, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
• Coordinate with Engineers and the Design & Engineering team to clarify drawing requirements and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain proper drawing records, revisions, and documentation.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, dimensions, and consistency before submission.
• Support preparation of drawings for industrial / infrastructure / plant engineering projects, as applicable.
• Follow company drawing standards, templates, naming conventions, and document-control procedures.

Required Skills

• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of mechanical drafting, dimensions, tolerances, sections, and projections.
• Good understanding of engineering drawing standards and practices.
• Knowledge of MS Office applications.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively with Engineers and project teams.

Preferred

• Exposure to AutoCAD 3D or other drafting/design software
• Experience in preparing fabrication and manufacturing drawings will be preferred.

Experience

25 years of relevant experience in Mechanical Drafting with hands-on AutoCAD experience.
