Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Conveyor Design Engineer with strong hands-on knowledge of SolidWorks, Sheet Metal Design and Assembly. The candidate should have practical experience in designing industrial conveyors and sheet-metal components and should be capable of independently handling design activities from concept to manufacturing-ready drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop various types of industrial conveyors and material-handling equipment.
• Prepare detailed 3D models, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Work extensively on SolidWorks Sheet Metal, Part, Assembly and Drawing modules.
• Design sheet-metal components, frames, brackets, guards, covers, supports and other conveyor components.
• Prepare complete conveyor assemblies and ensure proper fitment and manufacturability.
• Develop BOMs, fabrication drawings, cutting details and assembly drawings.
• Select appropriate materials, profiles, fasteners, bearings and other mechanical components based on design requirements.
• Modify and optimize existing conveyor designs based on production or customer requirements.
• Coordinate with production, fabrication, purchase and other departments for smooth execution of designs.
• Review drawings for dimensions, tolerances, material specifications and manufacturability.
• Resolve design and fabrication-related issues and provide engineering solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with project requirements, quality standards and manufacturing practices.
• Maintain proper records of drawings, revisions, BOMs and design documentation.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks.
• Hands-on proficiency in:
• SolidWorks Part Modelling
• Sheet Metal
• Assembly
• Drawing
• Design modifications and revisions
• Good knowledge of sheet-metal fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Practical experience in conveyor design and material-handling systems.
• Knowledge of welding, laser cutting, bending, machining and fabrication processes.
• Ability to understand engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
• Knowledge of standard mechanical components and their application.
• Good understanding of design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA).

Experience & Qualification

• 35+ years of relevant experience in Conveyor Design / Mechanical Design / Sheet Metal Design.
• Experience in an industrial conveyor, material-handling equipment or sheet-metal fabrication company will be preferred.
• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
