About this role
Role & responsibilities
Join our engineering team as a mid-level Mechanical CAD Engineer specializing in precision part design and documentation for CNC-machined, casting, and plastic components. You will help shape the direction of our AI product that generates 2D drawings from 3D models by bringing on the table mechanical engineering knowledge and experience with geometrical tolerancing, ensuring designs are manufacturing readiness and adherence to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Create production-ready 2D drawings for CNC machined, casting, and plastic components in accordance with ASME and ISO standards
- Work on 3D Models and generate detailed drawings aligned with functional, manufacturing, and inspection requirements
- Develop internal drawings and structured datasets to improve automation workflows and AI model performance
- Apply GD&T per ISO and ASME Y14.5 standards to define form, fit, and function
- Initiate and drive process improvements in drawing practices, standardization, and internal documentation workflows.
Preferred candidate profile
- 3-7 years of hands-on experience in 2D mechanical drawing and detailing from prototype to production
- Strong exposure to CNC machining, casting, and plastic part design including injection molded components
- Proficient in NX/ Creo/CATIA V6; experience with Solidworks is an added advantage
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T principles
- Familiarity with ISO and ASME Y14.5 drawing standards
- ISO or ASME Y14.5 certification preferred but not mandatory
Perks and benefits
- Direct access to the founders. You would work closely with the CEO and CTO on product strategy, not through a design manager.
- A high-ownership role where the design system, the visual identity, and the interface for an AI-reasoning layer over CAD are yours to build as part of the founding team.
- The chance to work with enterprise clients across aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing from day one.
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity participation.
- A small, technical team with backgrounds from NASA, Formula 1, and top engineering institutions.
- Three meals at the office, plus snacks, tea, and coffee throughout the day.
- A workspace at BHIVE with foosball, billiards, pickleball, and places to reset between deep work sessions.
- Medical insurance for full-time employees.
- A POSH-compliant workplace.
- Monthly offsites, events, and team activities.
