- Design robotic actuators, gearboxes, and mechanical assemblies for compact and high-performance applications.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
- Perform mechanical calculations related to torque, forces, stresses, loads, and transmission ratios.
- Design components considering strength, stiffness, durability, wear, and fatigue.
- Work on compact mechanical designs while maintaining performance and reliability.
- Consider thermal, mechanical, and dimensional constraints during the design process.
- Select appropriate materials, bearings, gears, fasteners, and other mechanical components.
- Collaborate with electrical, motor-control, firmware, and robotics teams to develop integrated actuator systems.
- Support prototyping, assembly, testing, and design validation.
- Identify mechanical failures or design issues and implement appropriate design improvements.
- Work closely with manufacturing and vendors to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
- Maintain proper engineering documentation, drawings, BOMs, and design revisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with professional CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Fusion 360, or equivalent.
- Understanding of gear systems, bearings, shafts, couplings, and mechanical transmissions.
- Knowledge of planetary gearboxes and/or harmonic drives is highly preferred.
- Understanding of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to perform basic mechanical and structural calculations.
- Good understanding of GDT, tolerances, fits, and precision engineering.
- Ability to interpret and create detailed engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Good to have
- Experience designing robotic actuators or servo mechanisms.
- Experience with BLDC/PMSM motors and motor-actuator integration.
- Knowledge of gearbox efficiency, backlash, stiffness, and transmission losses.
- Experience with FEA / structural simulation tools.
- Understanding of thermal analysis and heat dissipation in compact mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping, CNC machining, 3D printing, or manufacturing.
- Experience working on robotics, automation, drones, EVs, or other high-performance electromechanical systems.
What we're looking for
- Enjoys solving challenging mechanical design problems.
- Can take a mechanical concept from idea, CAD, prototype, testing, final design.
- Has strong attention to detail and understands the importance of precision in robotics.
- Is comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on engineering environment.
- Can collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Is willing to experiment, prototype, test, and continuously improve designs.
Why join Sirena
- Work on next-generation robotics and Physical AI systems.
- Solve real-world mechanical engineering challenges.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electrical, embedded, AI, and robotics.
- Opportunity to work on high-performance actuators and robotic mechanisms.
- Be part of a hands-on engineering environment where your designs move from concept to physical hardware.
