Master Data Analyst / Master Data Manager
Location: Worli, Mumbai

Overview We are seeking a
Master Data Analyst / Master Data Manager to ensure the integrity, consistency, and usability of core business data across systems, including CRM, service platforms, dealer systems, and finance/ERP. This role will act as the single point of accountability for maintaining a unified and reliable “single source of truth,” enabling accurate operations, reporting, and strategic decision-making across the organization. Why This Role Matters This is a critical role that ensures business decisions are powered by accurate, reliable, and consistent data.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Data Quality Monitoring & Cleansing: Run automated data quality checks (e.g., duplicates, missing fields, format inconsistencies) in CRM/ERP systems; review flagged records daily and initiate corrections or escalations.
- Master Data Onboarding & Validation: Validate and onboard new customers, dealers, products, and vendors by cross-referencing source documents (e.g., contracts, invoices, product catalogs) and updating systems within SLA (typically 24–48 hrs).
- Dealer & Channel Partner Lifecycle Management: Maintain dealer master data—including onboarding, contract renewals, territory updates, and deactivation—ensuring alignment with sales & operations plans.
- Pricing & Promotions Data Governance: Ensure accurate configuration of product pricing, discounts, and campaign schemes in ERP/CRM; validate against approved pricing matrices before activation.
- Location & Territory Mapping: Update and audit store, warehouse, and service center locations (including geocodes) and align with sales territories in CRM weekly.
- Data Reconciliation & Audit: Conduct weekly reconciliation of master data between core systems (e.g., CRM vs. ERP) and resolve discrepancies; prepare monthly data health dashboards for leadership review.
- Governance Workflow Execution: Manage the master data change request process—review, approve, and implement changes via formal workflow (e.g., Jira/ServiceNow), ensuring traceability and audit readiness.
- Reporting & Analytics Support: Collaborate with BI/analytics teams to define and maintain key data definitions (e.g., active customer, valid SKU); validate data in reports and dashboards for accuracy.
- System Integration Support: Participate in API/data integration testing for new systems or upgrades; ensure master data flows correctly between platforms (e.g., Salesforce ↔ SAP).
- Training & Stakeholder Enablement: Train regional teams and business users on proper data entry practices, system workflows, and governance policies; provide escalation support for complex data issues. Scope of Master Data You will oversee governance and lifecycle management of key business entities, including:
- Customers (B2C and B2B)
- Dealers / Channel Partners
- Contractors / Service Providers
- Products and SKUs
- Pricing structures and schemes
- Locations (stores, territories, operational zones)
- Employees and role hierarchies
- Vendors and suppliers What We’re Looking For
Core Skills
- Strong understanding of business processes and operational workflows.
- Hands-on experience with CRM (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics) and/or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Ability to identify inconsistencies and perform root cause analysis using query tools or logs.
- High attention to detail with a structured problem-solving approach—e.g., using root cause frameworks (5 Whys, Fishbone) for recurring data issues.
Good to Have
- Exposure to MDM tools (e.g., Informatica MDM, SAP MDG, Talend).
- Proficiency in SQL for ad-hoc queries, data profiling, and validation scripts.
- Understanding of data modeling concepts (e.g., star schema, slowly changing dimensions).
Functional Strengths
- Strong ownership mindset and accountability—e.g., owns data quality KPIs and drives resolution timelines.
- Ability to enforce governance and drive process discipline across cross-functional teams.
- Balance between practical execution (e.g., daily cleans) and long-term scalability (e.g., building reusable data rules).
Experience & Qualifications
- 3–6 years of experience in data governance, MDM, business analytics, or operations roles with strong data ownership.
- Experience in industries such as FMCG, retail, marketplaces, or services is preferred.
- Proven track record of reducing data errors by ≥30% in previous roles (e.g., via cleansing initiatives or automation).
