About this role
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, work instructions, process sheets and SOPs for railway components and assemblies.
- Study engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs and manufacturing requirements for production feasibility.
- Prepare process plans, routing, operation sequences, tooling and fixture requirements.
- Support manufacturing of railway/rolling stock structures, interiors, assemblies and fabricated components.
- Improve cycle time, productivity, manpower utilization and material consumption through process optimization.
- Coordinate with Design, Production, Quality, NPD and SCM teams for smooth product transfer and production.
- Conduct DFM/DFA reviews and provide manufacturing feasibility inputs to Design/NPD teams.
- Identify and resolve process-related issues, rework, rejection and production bottlenecks.
- Support new product introduction (NPI/NPD), prototype development and production trials.
- Develop and maintain PFMEA, Control Plans, SOPs, process documentation and line layouts.
- Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure processes comply with applicable railway customer specifications, quality requirements and safety standards.
- Conduct time studies and assist in capacity planning and line balancing.
- Support root-cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone and other problem-solving techniques.
