About this role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Manual Tester to ensure the quality, functionality, and reliability of our software applications. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of manual testing methodologies, test case design, defect management, and software quality assurance processes. The candidate will work closely with developers, business analysts, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify defects, validate application functionality, and ensure that software meets business requirements and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and application workflows to understand testing requirements.
- Prepare, review, and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test data.
- Perform functional, integration, system, regression, smoke, sanity, and exploratory testing.
- Execute manual test cases and document results with clear evidence of defects and unexpected behavior.
- Identify, report, track, and verify defects using bug-tracking tools such as Jira or Bugzilla.
- Collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to investigate issues, clarify requirements, and ensure timely defect resolution.
- Perform regression testing to verify fixes and ensure that existing application functionality remains unaffected.
- Validate application workflows, business rules, data accuracy, and user interface behavior against requirements.
- Perform API testing using tools such as Postman, where applicable.
- Conduct database validation using SQL queries to verify data integrity and backend processing, where required.
- Participate in requirement reviews, test planning, sprint discussions, and release-readiness activities.
- Prepare test execution reports, defect summaries, and testing status updates for stakeholders.
- Identify gaps in test coverage and recommend improvements to testing processes.
- Work within Agile/Scrum or other software development methodologies to support timely, high-quality releases.
Required Skills and Qualifications Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5-8 years of professional experience in manual software testing or quality assurance.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles, SDLC, STLC, and defect life cycle.
- Hands-on experience designing and executing test cases based on functional and business requirements.
- Experience with functional, integration, regression, system, smoke, sanity, and exploratory testing.
- Familiarity with defect-tracking and test-management tools such as Jira, Bugzilla, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of API testing using Postman or equivalent tools.
- Basic to intermediate SQL knowledge for database validation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage testing priorities, and meet release deadlines.
- Experience testing web-based applications and responsive user interfaces.
- Familiarity with mobile application testing.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
- Knowledge of basic performance and security testing concepts.
- Exposure to automation testing frameworks and continuous integration workflows.
- Experience testing data-driven applications, GIS platforms, or agriculture and weather-related software is an advantage.
