About the Role We're looking for a hands-on, technically fluent Manager – Web Technologies to own the platform, performance, and marketing technology stack behind our digital storefront. This is a builder-meets-leader role: you'll manage our Shopify (Plus) ecosystem end-to-end, integrate and optimize our marketing technology tools, and partner closely with Marketing, Design, Product, and external agencies to ship a fast, reliable, conversion-focused web experience. This is an individual contributor role at the start that will eventually grow into a leadership role. You should be equally comfortable reviewing Liquid code and a data layer as you are prioritizing a roadmap and mentoring a team. What You'll Do Shopify Platform Ownership
- Own the day-to-day tasks, roadmap, and health of our Shopify Plus storefront(s), including theme architecture, customizations, and app ecosystem.
- Lead theme development and maintenance using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with a strong eye for performance and Core Web Vitals.
- Manage Shopify checkout extensibility, Shopify Functions, and Scripts (or successors) to support promotions, bundling, and custom checkout logic.
- Evaluate, implement, and maintain third-party apps and integrations (ERP, OMS, PIM, subscriptions, reviews, loyalty, shipping/tax).
- Explore and support headless/composable initiatives (Hydrogen, Oxygen, or custom front ends) where they add value.
- Establish and enforce version control, staging/QA workflows, and deployment best practices.
Marketing Technology Stack
- Own the martech ecosystem and its integration with the web platform — email/SMS (e.g., Klaviyo, Braze), CRM, CDP, and marketing automation.
- Manage analytics and tag governance: GA4, Google Tag Manager, server-side tagging, and a clean, well-documented data layer.
- Support conversion tracking, attribution, and pixel/consent management across ad platforms (Meta, Google, TikTok, etc.).
- Partner with marketing on CRO: A/B and multivariate testing, personalization, and landing page optimization.
- Ensure privacy compliance (consent management, GDPR/CCPA) across tracking and data collection. Leadership & Collaboration
- Translate marketing and business goals into technical requirements, scope, and timelines.
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Design, Merchandising, Product, and IT to prioritize and deliver a shared roadmap.
- Set and monitor KPIs for site performance, uptime, page speed, and conversion.
- Stay ahead of the Shopify and martech landscape and recommend improvements. -
What You'll Bring Required
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in web development / eCommerce technology, including 1–3 years in a lead or management capacity.
- Referenceable experience developing and supporting
production storefronts for global brands with high transaction volumes — you can point to live, high-traffic sites you've built and kept running in production.
- Proven ability to
manage multiple storefronts simultaneously across regions, brands, or markets.
- Comfortable working across
global time zones and collaborating with distributed teams, agencies, and stakeholders.
- Deep, hands-on experience with
Shopify / Shopify Plus , including Liquid theme development and the app ecosystem.
- Strong front-end fundamentals: HTML, CSS, JavaScript; familiarity with modern JS frameworks a plus.
- Proven experience with marketing technology tools — email/SMS platforms (e.g., Klaviyo), GA4, Google Tag Manager, and tag/data-layer management.
- Solid understanding of conversion tracking, attribution, and pixel implementation across major ad platforms.
- Experience with A/B testing and CRO tools and methodologies.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- SEO/AEO/GEO/AIO technical fundamentals (structured data, site architecture, performance).
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate between technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to Have
- Experience with headless/composable commerce (Hydrogen, Oxygen, or a custom stack).
- Familiarity with CDPs and marketing automation platforms.
- Experience with server-side tagging and consent management platforms.
- Working knowledge of REST/GraphQL APIs and integrating Shopify with ERP/OMS/PIM systems.
- Experience managing agencies, contractors, or a small internal team.
