Manager - Stores

Job Purpose:

To manage site stores and material inventory for a high-rise residential construction project, ensuring proper receipt, storage, issuance, stock control, documentation, and timely availability of construction materials. The role involves supervising the existing Stores Assistant and coordinating with project, procurement, accounts, and site execution teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day stores operations at the construction project site.
• Receive construction materials, verify quantities against purchase orders, delivery challans, invoices, and approved specifications, and coordinate quality inspections wherever required.
• Maintain accurate records of material receipts, issues, returns, transfers, and closing stock.
• Ensure timely issuance of materials against authorised material requisitions and maintain proper acknowledgement records.
• Monitor stock levels, minimum stock requirements, slow-moving materials, and material shortages to support uninterrupted site operations.
• Maintain physical stock and reconcile it with ERP/system records and stock registers.
• Conduct periodic physical stock verification and investigate discrepancies, shortages, excesses, and damages.
• Ensure proper storage, identification, preservation, and handling of cement, steel, electrical, plumbing, MEP, finishing, and other construction materials.
• Maintain records for material consumption, scrap, surplus materials, returns, and obsolete stock.
• Coordinate with procurement, planning, billing, accounts, and execution teams for material planning, delivery schedules, and reconciliation.
• Monitor material wastage and support cost control initiatives at the project site.
• Supervise the Stores Assistant and ensure timely completion of documentation and daily stores activities.
• Maintain proper housekeeping, safety, fire prevention, and access control in the stores and storage areas.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports on stock position, receipts, issues, consumption, and material reconciliation.
• Support internal audits, inventory audits, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Educational Qualification:

• Diploma / Bachelor's degree in any discipline; a qualification in Materials Management, Supply Chain, or a related field will be an advantage.

Experience:

• Approximately 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in construction stores or materials management, preferably in high-rise residential or large building projects.
• Experience handling site stores independently, including inventory control, material reconciliation, documentation, and stock verification.
• Experience managing construction materials such as cement, steel, RMC-related consumables, electrical, plumbing, MEP, and finishing materials.
• Familiarity with ERP-based inventory management and MS Excel is preferred.
