Manager / Senior Manager BD Bulk Break Business - Mumbai

Role & responsibilities

To drive business development and growth of the Bulk Agency business by identifying new principals, vessel and cargo opportunities, developing customer relationships and securing profitable agency business across key ports and trade segments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and execute the business development strategy for Bulk Agency services.
• Identify and acquire new ship owners, operators, charterers, traders and cargo interests requiring agency services.
• Develop opportunities across dry bulk, liquid bulk and other relevant bulk cargo segments, as applicable to the business.
• Identify upcoming vessel calls, cargo movements, trade opportunities and potential agency requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with ship owners, charterers, operators, traders, brokers, customers and port stakeholders.
• Generate and follow up on agency enquiries, RFQs, tenders and commercial proposals.
• Prepare competitive agency quotations and coordinate with Operations and Finance to ensure commercial viability.
• Negotiate agency terms, service scope and commercial conditions within approved authority.
• Develop and maintain a robust business pipeline and opportunity tracker and ensure timely conversion.
• Coordinate with Agency Operations to assess operational requirements, port capabilities, service scope and estimated costs for new opportunities.
• Support onboarding of new principals / customers and ensure smooth transition from business acquisition to operations.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, port developments, vessel movements and agency rates.
• Identify opportunities for cross-selling and expanding services to existing principals and customers.
• Track revenue, contribution and profitability of developed accounts / business and highlight commercial risks.
• Maintain regular business development MIS and management reports covering enquiries, pipeline, conversions, revenue and profitability.
• Represent the organization in customer meetings, industry events and relevant maritime / trade forums.
• Ensure adherence to company commercial policies, approval processes and compliance requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

Graduate in any discipline; MBA / PGDM in Shipping, Logistics, Marketing or Business Management preferred.

• 10+ years of relevant experience in shipping agency, bulk shipping, chartering, commercial or business development.
• Strong network among ship owners, charterers, operators, traders and maritime stakeholders will be an advantage.
• Experience in bulk / dry bulk agency business preferred.
