Employment Type

Focus Area

Role Summary
Owns the diagnostic and therapeutic protocols behind every online consultation on the company's tele-dermatology platform: creating them, embedding them in consultation and follow-up flows, ensuring doctors follow them, and proving through outcome data that they work. A core goal is a better online patient journey, so more patients start treatment correctly, stay on it, and get better. Platform data and RWE are tools to set baselines, measure outcomes and refine protocols.
Key Responsibilities
1. Diagnostic Protocols
- Build online assessment protocols for core conditions (acne, pigmentation, dermatitis/eczema, fungal infections) and new conditions as the platform expands.
- Define assessment standards: structured history, mandatory photo sets, image-quality rules, standard severity grading and differential-diagnosis checklists.
- Set red-flag and triage rules for escalation to dermatologist video consults, in-person referral or emergency care.
- Convert protocols into intake flows, doctor checklists and AI chatbot/triage logic with product teams; validate AI outputs against doctor assessments.
2. Therapeutic Protocols
- Create stepwise, IADVL/guideline-aligned treatment protocols by condition and severity: first-line, step-up, maintenance and stopping rules.
- Embed safety rules: contraindications, pregnancy, steroid stewardship, antifungal duration, isotretinoin monitoring, and Telemedicine Practice Guidelines prescribing limits.
- Standardise prescription templates around the approved dermatologist-prescribed formulary; define rules for non-response, relapse and side effects.
- Secure consultant dermatologist and Head of Medical Affairs sign-off; maintain version control with six-monthly reviews.
3. Implementation & Clinical Quality
- Roll out protocols through SOPs, case-based training and onboarding for platform doctors.
- Run monthly protocol-adherence, prescription and diagnostic-concordance audits; track corrective actions.
- Lead case reviews of treatment failures, complaints and adverse events; support pharmacovigilance.
4. Online Patient Journey & Outcomes
- Map the journey from intake to maintenance; fix drop-off points such as poor photos, delayed treatment start, early discontinuation and missed follow-ups.
- Design condition-specific follow-ups, photo-based progress reviews, and WhatsApp/in-app reminders that support adherence.
- Create patient education with the content team; set response standards and escalation paths for patient queries.
- Define outcome measures (severity change, patient-reported outcomes, adherence, relapse); set baselines, build dashboards and use platform data/RWE to refine protocols.
5. Content, Compliance & Collaboration
- Medically review website, condition pages, chatbot responses and marketing content, including AI-assisted content.
- Ensure compliance with Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, NMC norms, Drugs & Cosmetics Act, DMR Act, UCPMP 2024 and DPDP Act 2023; maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Write clinical requirements for product and tech teams; mentor in-house doctors and lead a small team as the function grows.
Qualifications & Experience
- MBBS with valid NMC/State Medical Council registration (mandatory); dermatology, cosmetology or trichology certification an advantage.
- 23 years of post-MBBS clinical experience, including at least 1 year managing patients online (teleconsultation, chat/async care, follow-ups), preferably in dermatology.
- Experience handling high-volume online consultations, writing protocols/SOPs or running clinical audits.
- Desirable: work with product/tech teams on digital health workflows; exposure to clinical research or RWE.
Skills & Competencies
- Sound clinical judgement in common dermatology conditions and the limits of online diagnosis.
- Ability to turn guidelines into simple protocols, flows and checklists.
- Ability to use AI tools for content generation with scientific validation
- Data literacy (spreadsheets, dashboards, metrics) and clear medical writing for doctors and patients.
- Patient-first, execution-focused, and able to influence teams without direct authority in a fast-paced environment.
Key Performance Indicators
- Protocols: Approved, live and reviewed on schedule.
- Quality: Protocol adherence, diagnostic concordance, appropriate referral rates.
- Outcomes: Patients improving at defined time points; relapse rates.
- Journey: Treatment start rate, follow-up completion, adherence, early drop-off.
- Safety & compliance: Adverse events, prescription errors, complaints, query response time, audit readiness.
- Medical affairs: Trainings delivered, query turnaround, KOL engagements, evidence outputs.
