Manager / Deputy Manager - Civil Structural Engineering

Balasore Alloys Limited is a leading Indian producer of high-carbon ferro chrome. It operates a ferro alloys plant at Balasore and captive chromite mines and a Chrome Ore Beneficiation (COB) Plant in the Sukinda Valley, Odisha.

Role & responsibilities

• Plan, execute and monitor civil and structural works for new projects, expansions and plant modifications: RCC and steel structures, equipment foundations, furnace and machine foundations, conveyor galleries, sheds, roads, drains and buildings.
• Review structural designs, drawings and calculations from consultants, and ensure compliance with IS codes and plant requirements.
• Prepare and check drawings in AutoCAD, including GA drawings, foundation drawings, bar bending schedules and as-built drawings.
• Prepare project schedules in Primavera P6, track progress against baseline, identify delays and report to management.
• Prepare BOQs, cost estimates, quantity take-offs and tender documents, and support contractor finalisation.
• Manage contractors on site, certify RA bills and measurements, and control project cost and timelines.
• Ensure quality control: material testing, concrete and steel QA/QC, inspection checklists and third-party testing.
• Carry out structural audits, condition assessments and repair or strengthening of existing plant structures.
• Ensure safety at construction sites, including work at height, excavation and lifting, and compliance with statutory norms.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, process and environment teams for integrated project execution.
• Lead and mentor the civil engineering team and site supervisors.

Preferred candidate profile

• Education: B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering. M.Tech in Structural Engineering preferred.
• Experience: 815 years in civil and structural engineering, preferably in heavy industries such as ferro alloys, steel, power, cement, aluminium or mining.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Primavera P6 (mandatory).
• Working knowledge of STAAD Pro or similar structural analysis software is an added advantage.
• Sound knowledge of relevant IS codes (IS 456, IS 800, IS 875, IS 1893, IS 2974 and others).
• Experience in heavy equipment foundations, steel structures and industrial buildings.
• Good command of estimation, billing, contract management and MS Excel.
• Strong leadership, planning and coordination skills.
