Malayalam Linguistic Expert (Freelance), AI Voice Bot

About the role

We are building AI voice bots that speak with customers in regional languages. We need a Malayalam Linguistic Expert to adapt bot scripts and prompts from Hindi/English into natural, conversational Malayalam. You will then test the bot end to end and audit it for a few days after go-live, to make sure it sounds right and handles real conversations properly.

Key responsibilities

• Transcription and translation: Convert bot scripts, prompts, FAQs and responses from Hindi/English into Malayalam that sounds natural when spoken, not a literal translation. Use the right register for the business and the customer.
• Bot testing: Once the Malayalam bot is ready, test it across all the use cases we share. This includes the main call flow, objections, silence, interruptions, unclear answers, and numbers, dates, names and amounts.
• Issue reporting: Log problems such as mispronunciations, unnatural phrasing, wrong or awkward word choice, tone issues and flow errors. Give clear, usable feedback with the correct Malayalam alternative.
• Post-testing audit: For a few days after the bot goes live, review live bot calls and confirm it is working properly. Flag recurring errors and suggest fixes.
• Closing the loop: Re-test after fixes are made and confirm the issues are resolved.
• Timelines: Complete assigned work within the agreed deadlines and share progress updates regularly.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Malayalam linguistic work for voice bots, IVR, chatbots, call-centre scripting, QA or localisation.
• Strong reading, writing and speaking skills in Malayalam, including spoken and colloquial forms.
• Good command of Hindi and/or English to understand the source content.
• Experience testing or auditing voice or chat bots, or call quality auditing, is strongly preferred.
• Good listening skills and a sharp ear for pronunciation, tone and natural flow.
• Comfortable with Google Sheets/Docs and with listening to call recordings.
• Reliable and detail-oriented, and able to work independently to deadlines.

Good to have

• Familiarity with other regional languages or with Malayalam dialect differences.
• Knowledge of voice AI, TTS/STT concepts or prompt-based bots.

Deliverables

1. Malayalam translated and transcribed scripts, ready for the bot.
2. A test report with logged issues and suggested corrections.
3. A daily audit summary during the post-testing period.
