Job Description Maintenance Manager (BESS / Battery Pack Manufacturing)

Role Summary

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for ensuring high equipment uptime, reliability, and optimal performance of manufacturing systems used in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or battery pack assembly lines. The role involves leading maintenance operations, driving preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and ensuring safe and efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead overall maintenance activities for BESS / battery pack manufacturing equipment, including assembly lines, testing systems, automation equipment, and utilities.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) strategies to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Ensure maximum equipment availability (OEE improvement) through structured maintenance planning and execution.
• Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and lead root cause analysis with cross-functional teams.
• Manage installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and production lines.
• Drive spare parts planning, inventory optimization, and maintenance budgeting.
• Ensure compliance with safety (EHS), electrical standards, and manufacturing regulations.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Automation teams for smooth operations.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Maintenance, TPM, and Kaizen practices.
• Monitor key maintenance KPIs such as MTTR, MTBF, downtime, and equipment efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics Engineering.
• TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma certification is preferred.

Experience

• 12–16 years of experience in maintenance engineering or plant maintenance.
• Strong experience in battery pack assembly lines or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) manufacturing is highly preferred.
• Experience in automotive, electronics, or high-volume automated manufacturing industries is also suitable.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of automated production lines, robotics, PLC systems, and electrical/mechanical equipment.
• Hands-on experience with preventive & predictive maintenance systems.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP PM, Maximo, or similar).
• Understanding of Lean Maintenance, TPM, and reliability engineering concepts.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and leadership skills.
