About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance and reliability operations for a large, continuously operating industrial/agro-industrial facility. The role will be responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, maximum uptime, safety, cost control and effective maintenance planning across a multi-trade team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive, corrective and condition-based maintenance strategies.
• Lead maintenance across mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, marine, pumps, utilities, transport, welding and facilities.
• Manage preventive maintenance schedules, work orders and breakdown response.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring failures.
• Maintain asset registers and maintenance history through ERP/CMMS systems.
• Manage maintenance budget, spares, contractors, procurement and total cost of ownership.
• Assess repair vs. replacement requirements and support capital planning.
• Lead and develop a multi-trade maintenance team of 20+ employees.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, statutory inspections and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor equipment availability, downtime, repair time, failure rates and maintenance costs.
• Coordinate with Production, Operations, Procurement, Stores, Finance and Projects/Construction.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Degree/equivalent in Engineering from a recognised university.
• Minimum 8 years of post-qualification experience in engineering and maintenance.
• At least 4 years of experience leading a multi-trade maintenance team of 20+ people.
• Experience in industrial, agro-industrial, agriculture, aquaculture, food processing or similar continuous operations.
• Experience managing assets distributed across multiple locations.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Power generation & electrical distribution
• Pumps & water systems
• Refrigeration & cold chain
• Mechanical plant & fleet
• Welding & fabrication
• Marine assets

Preferred

• Professional/Graduate Engineer registration or eligibility with the relevant engineering body.
• Experience with ERP/CMMS, preferably ERPNext or equivalent.
• Certifications such as CMRP, RCM, TPM, Project Management or Safety are an advantage.
• Experience working within Kenyan regulatory, labour and supply conditions is advantageous.
• Willingness to work at a remote site and support continuous operations.
