Lal Sweets is a Bengaluru-headquartered packaged-food company established in 2010, with a fast-growing presence across general trade, modern trade, e-commerce, airport retail outlets, and international export markets. Our product portfolio encompasses packaged traditional Indian mithai, savouries/namkeen, and premium bakery products. As part of our next growth phase, the company is actively expanding into healthy snacking, instant culinary mixes, and frozen ready-to-eat food solutions.

    Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, and results-oriented Maintenance Manager with 6 to 8 years of manufacturing experience to take end-to-end ownership of factory engineering, maintenance operations, and plant utilities. The Maintenance Manager will lead a team of technical staff, drive preventive and autonomous maintenance, maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), minimize downtime, and ensure complete compliance with food safety, statutory, and EHS standards in a fast-paced food production environment.

    Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

    • Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Formulate, execute, and monitor comprehensive preventive, predictive, and autonomous maintenance schedules for all processing, baking, cooking, and high-speed packaging machinery to ensure high reliability and zero unplanned stoppages.
    • Breakdown Management & RCA: Lead rapid response teams during machine breakdowns, perform rigorous troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues, and drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) with robust Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).
    • Plant Utilities & Facilities Operations: Oversee the 24/7 reliability and efficient operation of plant utilities, including steam boilers, air compressors, industrial refrigeration/chillers, HVAC systems, DG sets, RO water purification plants, and electrical distribution panels.
    • Team Leadership & Capability Building: Directly supervise, schedule, and upskill maintenance technicians, electricians, and shift mechanics. Foster a disciplined culture of safety, accountability, and technical excellence.
    • Spare Parts Management & Inventory Control: Maintain optimal inventory levels of critical machine spares, tools, and consumables. Establish reorder levels, eliminate stock-outs for critical components, and control inventory carrying costs.
    • Maintenance Budgeting & Cost Optimization: Plan and control the annual maintenance budget (Opex and minor Capex). Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives through energy conservation, waste reduction, and asset life extension.
    • Vendor & Contractor Management: Manage OEM vendors, Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC), and external service contractors. Supervise third-party technical work and ensure prompt procurement of certified food-grade spare parts and lubricants.
    • Safety, Hygiene & Statutory Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere strictly to FSSAI standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), Factory Safety norms, 5S, Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), and electrical safety protocols.
    • Capex, Installation & Commissioning: Support engineering projects, line extensions, layout modifications, and the testing, installation, and commissioning of new food processing and packaging machinery.

    Education Qualifications

Undergraduate (UG): B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.

Postgraduate (PG): M.Tech / Post-Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management, Operations, or Industrial Safety (Preferred, not mandatory).

    Preferred Candidate Profile & Qualifications

    • Experience: 6 to 8 years of proven hands-on maintenance experience in FMCG, food processing, bakery, confectionery, dairy, snacks, or high-speed consumer goods manufacturing plants.
    • Technical Expertise: Sound knowledge of food processing machinery (ovens, fryers, planetary mixers, form-fill-seal packaging machines, flow wrappers, metal detectors, vacuum packaging) and plant utilities (boilers, chillers, air compressors, DG sets).
    • Engineering Competencies: Strong troubleshooting abilities across mechanical drives, electrical circuits, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and instrumentation.
    • Operational Discipline: In-depth understanding of TPM principles, OEE tracking, MTTR, MTBF, Root Cause Analysis (5-Why, Fishbone), and preventive maintenance software/CMMS.
    • Regulatory & Quality Standards: Well-versed with FSSAI regulations, GMP/GHP hygiene standards, HACCP requirements, and factory statutory safety norms.
    • Leadership & Communication: Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams across multiple shifts, coordinate cross-functionally with Production and Quality teams, and handle vendor negotiations effectively.
