Maintenance Engineer

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, repair, and safety of all hotel facilities, equipment, and building infrastructure. The role involves planning, organizing, and executing both preventive (planned) and corrective (unplanned) maintenance activities to ensure minimal downtime and uninterrupted guest services.

The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem solving abilities, and proven experience managing maintenance operations within a hotel, hospitality, or similar commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Operations

• Plan, organize, and supervise all preventive and corrective maintenance activities within the hotel.
• Ensure all building systems and equipment operate efficiently and safely.
• Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and equipment breakdowns.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
• Monitor maintenance requests and ensure timely completion. Building & Facility Management
• Oversee maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, offices, kitchens, restaurants, and recreational facilities.
• Ensure hotel infrastructure remains in excellent condition.
• Coordinate repairs, renovations, and refurbishment projects.
• Monitor contractor performance and quality of work.

Electrical & Mechanical Systems

• Maintain electrical distribution systems, generators, lighting, and power supply systems.
• Monitor HVAC, refrigeration, cold room, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.
• Oversee plumbing, water supply, drainage, and sewage systems.
• Ensure uninterrupted operation of critical building services.

Preventive Maintenance Planning

• Develop annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly maintenance plans.
• Schedule maintenance activities to minimize disruption to hotel operations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and asset registers.
• Track maintenance costs and equipment life cycles. Safety & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with all building, electrical, fire safety, and occupational health regulations.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Ensure emergency equipment and systems are operational at all times.
• Maintain compliance with statutory inspections and certification requirements.

Inventory & Asset Management

• Monitor inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
• Ensure timely procurement of required materials.
• Control maintenance expenditures and minimize wastage.
• Maintain records of equipment warranties and service contracts.

Team Leadership

• Supervise maintenance technicians and contractors.
• Provide training and guidance to maintenance personnel.
• Allocate work schedules and monitor team productivity.
• Promote a safe and professional work environment.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Candidates must possess at least one of the following:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in:

Electrical Engineering

• Civil Engineering
• Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering (advantageous)
• Building Services Engineering or related field

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of proven experience in a similar Maintenance Engineer role, preferably within the hotel, hospitality, commercial property, or facilities management sector.
• Demonstrated experience managing both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
• Hands-on experience with electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and building maintenance systems.
• Experience supervising maintenance teams and contractors.

Age Requirement Candidates must be below 40 years of age.
