Mainframe Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements and prepare technical design solutions.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
• Perform coding, unit testing, debugging, and implementation activities.
• Provide Level 2/Level 3 production support and resolve critical incidents.
• Optimize batch jobs and application performance.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Coordinate with business analysts, QA teams, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support release management and deployment activities.
• Prepare technical documentation and mentor junior team members.

Required Skills

• 5-8 years of experience in Mainframe Application Development.
• Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
• Experience in development, enhancement, and support projects.
• Good knowledge of Mainframe utilities and batch processing.
• Strong SQL and debugging skills.
• Experience with Endevor, Changeman, or similar source control tools.
• Understanding of SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or Retail domain experience.
• Exposure to Mainframe modernization projects.
• Experience in performance tuning and application optimization.
