Job Summary

As a Mainframe MQ System Administrator at Kyndryl, you will be critical in ensuring the smooth operation of our customers IT infrastructure. You'll be the mastermind behind maintaining and optimizing their systems, ensuring they're always running at peak performance.

Responsibilities

• Applies technical skills to support the operation and maintenance of vendor products, services, and solutions and typically have responsibility for sizing, troubleshooting, and critical client situations.
• Install, test, configure and implement mainframe WMQ and associated system software while maintaining a stable operating system environment for business applications.
• Perform WMQ system backups and recovery Monitors system activity for performance and availability and where necessary, tune accordingly Perform problem diagnosis and resolution.
• Create, maintain and use automation scripts for MQ for z/OS monitoring, alerting and problem determination and resolution Design and Implement security aspects related to MQ.
• Install and upgrade MQ for z/OS using Shopz Series and SMP/E Troubleshoot MQ problems using MQ command line and monitoring tools Provide primary and backup on-call support during extended hours (including nights and weekends).

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 4 to 6 Years of experience as a Mainframe MQ System Programmer supporting enterprise-level z/OS environments.
• Expert-level knowledge of IBM MQ for z/OS installation, configuration, and upgrades using ShopzSeries and SMP/E.
• Strong troubleshooting expertise using MQ command line utilities and mainframe monitoring tools.
• Deep understanding of MQ security configurations, RACF integration, CHLAUTH rules, and TLS/SSL encryption.
• Ability to install, configure, and maintain WebSphere MQ (WMQ) and related system software on z/OS.
• Experience performing system backups, recovery, and diagnosing complex MQ issues.
• Ensure MQ environments meet security and compliance standards, implementing best practices.
• Experience designing and maintaining MQ clustering and workload balancing for high availability and reliability.
• Ensuring High Availability and performance objectives, as required by customers and management are maintained for operating systems and for software components.
• Responsible for the administration of Websphere MQ (WMQ) subsystems and associated software on the client s mainframes.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Experience performing major MQ upgrades (e.g., migrating to newer IBM MQ for z/OS versions).
• Strong experience with administration of MQ objects, including queue managers, queues, channels, listeners, and topics.
• Provide primary and backup on-call support during extended hours (including nights and weekends).
• Prior experience in banking, insurance, or other high-transaction enterprise environments.
