Key Responsibilities

• Application Development & Maintenance: Design, code, test, and implement complex batch and online applications using COBOL, CICS, and DB2.
• Batch Processing: Create, modify, and optimize JCL (Job Control Language) scripts, procedures, and utilities to handle large-scale batch cycles.
• Database Management: Write, analyze, and tune complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects within DB2 environments to ensure optimal database performance.
• Online Transaction Processing: Develop and maintain high-performing interactive screens and transaction flows using CICS.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Analyze system abends, review dump logs, debug application errors, and provide rapid resolution for production incidents.
• Collaboration & Documentation: Participate in code reviews, write technical specifications, and collaborate with cross-functional teams through the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Platform: IBM Mainframe (z/OS)
• Programming Language: COBOL
• Job Control: JCL and batch processing concepts
• Database: DB2 (SQL, performance tuning, data modeling)
• Online Processing: CICS (Command Level, transaction management)

Preferred Qualifications & Nice-to-Haves

• File Structures: Experience working with VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method) datasets.
• Version Control & Tools: Familiarity with change management tools like Endeavor, Change man, or IBM Rational Developer for Z (RDz).
• Methodologies: Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Modernization: Exposure to mainframe modernization, API enablement, or cloud migration strategies is a strong plus.
