Mainframe Developer

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Mainframe applications.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop and support applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.
• Perform code reviews, debugging, and production support activities.
• Execute batch processing and optimize JCL workflows.
• Work closely with business analysts, architects, and testing teams.
• Investigate and resolve application and performance issues.
• Participate in system integration, deployment, and release activities.
• Create technical documentation and maintain coding standards.
• Support modernization and migration initiatives involving Mainframe systems.

Required Skills

Mainframe Technologies

• Strong experience in COBOL
• Hands-on experience with JCL (Job Control Language)
• Experience with CICS
• Strong knowledge of DB2
• VSAM file handling
• Mainframe utilities such as IDCAMS, SORT, File Aid, Expeditor

Development & Support

• Program design, coding, testing, and debugging
• Production support and incident management
• Batch processing and scheduling tools
• Root cause analysis and troubleshooting

Tools & Platforms

• IBM z/OS
• TSO/ISPF
• Endevor, Changeman, or similar source management tools
• Control-M or equivalent scheduling tools
