VMC Machine Operator Job Description

Position: VMC Machine Operator
Department: Production / Manufacturing
Experience: 3–5 Years

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor VMC machines for precision component manufacturing.
• Set machines, tools, fixtures, and work offsets as per production requirements.
• Read and understand engineering drawings and machining specifications.
• Perform tool setting, tool changes, offset corrections, and basic troubleshooting.
• Check component dimensions using vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, and other measuring instruments.
• Ensure production targets and required quality standards are achieved.
• Identify machining defects and take corrective action.
• Maintain proper machine condition, cleanliness, and workplace safety.
• Coordinate with the Production / Quality team for smooth production operations.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualification: ITI – Machinist / Turner / Fitter or Diploma in Mechanical preferred.
• Experience: 3–5 years of relevant VMC machine operating experience.
• Strong knowledge of VMC machining operations.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Knowledge of tool setting, offsets, cutting parameters, and tool selection.
• Familiarity with G-code / M-code and CNC controls.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
• Willingness to work in shifts.
