Library Professional Assistant

Role & responsibilities

Assist in the day-to-day operation of the library in circulation, references & acquisition.

• Organise and shelve books, periodicals, and other materials according to the library classification system.
• Maintain and update the library catalogue and user records using library management software.
• Provide basic reference and research assistance to students and faculty.
• Help manage library inventory, including conducting regular stock checks and weeding.
• Enforce library rules and regulations to ensure a quiet and productive environment.
• Ready to do the shift duty both on holidays and evenings.
• Assist in organising library programs, orientations, and displays.
• Troubleshoot basic technical issues related to digital resources or public-access systems
• Support the Librarian/ Deputy Librarian/Assistant Librarian in administrative and operational tasks as required
• Ready to do the other assigned duty by the librarian relating to the library and manage the school/department library.

Preferred candidate profile

• Master's degree in library & information science. Desirable: PGDLAN or PGDCA or BCA

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a library or information services environment, preferably in reputed educational institution.

• Familiarity with library management systems (e.g., Koha & other LMS software), along with Basic knowledge of cataloguing and classification systems (Dewey Decimal, etc.), with the latest AI tools.
• Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office and various AI tools.
