About this role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate librarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing excellent library services, fostering a love of reading and learning, and engaging with the community. Responsibilities:
- Assist patrons in locating library materials, both in print and electronic formats
- Provide reference and research assistance to patrons, including helping with database searches and information inquiries
- Develop and maintain library collections, including selecting materials for purchase and managing acquisitions
- Plan and implement library programs and events for all ages, such as storytime sessions, book clubs, and workshops
- Collaborate with community organizations and schools to promote literacy and library services
- Assist with library technology, including troubleshooting issues with computers, printers, and other equipment
- Participate in library outreach efforts, including visiting schools, senior centers, and other community locations
- Perform other duties as assigned by library management
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program
- Strong customer service skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with library cataloging systems and online databases
- Knowledge of current trends in library services and information technology
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with diverse populations preferred
