Purpose of the Role : The Legal Manager IP will be responsible for managing the Intellectual Property portfolio for Marico and all its associate and subsidiary companies globally. The Manager will be responsible for ensuring that Marico's intellectual Property rights are protected and adequately enforced. The Manager will also be driving the IP Policy and Framework for Marico.

Qualification & Experience:

• Education Qualification: LLB and/or LLM
• Work Experience: Prior experience of 5-7 years in Intellectual Property work

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Law with interest and experience in Intellectual property work, covering trademarks, copyrights, designs, patents, etc.
• Understanding the requirements of managing a large portfolio of brands, and the steps required to ensure that the brands are adequately protected
• Instructing external law firms on all trademark prosecution related work, including instructing on filing of applications and oppositions, and all connected matters
• Instructing external law firms on copyright registrations, where applicable, and related matters therein
• Being the point of contact for all intellectual property related issues within Marico, which will involve guiding marketing teams on availability of brands, adoption of brands, trade-dress, designs, etc.
• Strategizing and creating a playbook on collection of evidence, and creation of evidence repository of the companys past, existing and future brands
• Strategizing on ways to protect key assets of the company, and choosing the relevant and most effective manner of protection
• Handling key and high-stake IP litigations of the company, including identification of external firms, reviewing of pleadings, notes, arguments, written statements, applications, briefing external lawyers and senior counsels, and ensuring that the companys interests are protected
• Considering the key nature of the role, the Manager will also be expected to be a self-motivated individual, who can take initiative, and drive issues to their goals
