Job Description General Accounting (IFRS 16 Lease Accounting)

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical General Accounting professional with expertise in IFRS 16 Lease Accounting. The role is responsible for managing lease accounting activities, ensuring compliance with IFRS 16 standards, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end lease accounting activities in accordance with IFRS 16.
• Review lease contracts and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
• Calculate and maintain Right-of-Use (ROU) Assets and Lease Liabilities.
• Prepare journal entries related to lease additions, modifications, reassessments, terminations, depreciation, interest accruals, and lease payments.
• Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities for lease accounting.
• Reconcile lease accounting balances with the general ledger and investigate variances.
• Maintain lease accounting records in lease management systems (e.g., SAP RE-FX, SAP ECC, SAP FC).
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Support statutory reporting, internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS 16 policies, internal controls, and HARP requirements (where applicable).
• Collaborate with Procurement, Real Estate, Legal, Treasury, and Business Finance teams on lease-related transactions.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and standardization.
• Prepare management reports, SLA dashboards, and lease portfolio analytics.

Required Qualifications

• Qualified CA with 2–6 years of experience in General Accounting with hands-on IFRS 16 Lease Accounting.
• Strong understanding of IFRS 16 accounting principles and lease lifecycle management.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or SAP FC
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Power Query is a plus).

• Experience working in a Shared Services (SSC) or Global Business Services (GBS) environment.

• Strong knowledge of Google Workspace applications, including:
• Google Sheets (data analysis, formulas, pivot tables, dashboards)
• Google Docs (documentation and reporting)
• Google Slides (management presentations and business storytelling)Hands-on experience with Google AI and Analytics tools is an added advantage, including: Gemini,Gemini Gems,Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio),NotebookLM
• Continuous improvement mindset with exposure to automation tools (Power BI, Alteryx, Power Automate, or VBA is a plus).
