About this role
Job Summary
As a Lead Software Developer at OpenText, you will provide technical leadership for the Messaging Channels Platform, focusing on building high-volume, reliable, and scalable messaging capabilities.
You will lead the development of distributed messaging services supporting Email, WhatsApp, SMS, and RCS. You will drive technical decisions, engineering standards, and best practices while working closely with Product Management, Architecture, Engineering, Security, DevOps, and Cloud Operations teams.
Responsibilities - Lead the design and development of high-volume, low-latency messaging services.
- Build and maintain microservices using Java, Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Develop event-driven solutions using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging technologies.
- Support cloud-native and multi-region deployments with a focus on availability, security, and performance.
- Contribute to messaging capabilities across Email, SMS, WhatsApp, and RCS channels.
- Drive technical decisions, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and improve system performance and reliability.
- Establish effective monitoring and observability practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams to deliver solutions from development through production.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical planning and the platform technology roadmap.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent discipline.
- 912 years of software engineering experience in enterprise product development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
- Proven experience developing microservices and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka and/or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs and event-driven systems.
- Experience with at least one public cloud platform; GCP preferred.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.
- Excellent communication, technical leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to independently drive technical assignments through completion.
- Experience with Python or Rust.
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS products.
- Experience with high-volume messaging platforms.
- Knowledge of Email, SMS, WhatsApp, or RCS technologies.
- Knowledge of email delivery concepts such as routing, retries, bounce processing, suppression, and throttling.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK, or OpenSearch.
- Knowledge of CI/CD, Git, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps practices.
