Lead Software Developer – L2/L3 Networking Datapath

Perform embedded system software design and implementation for leading high-performance data networking products as a member of a highly capable and dynamic engineering team.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze requirements, design, develop and deliver high-quality software along with functional teams.
• Participate in software design reviews and articulate system software requirements.
• Propose design architectures and solutions for new features and enhancements on Broadcom ASICs.
• Experiment with and project various performance/scale tweaks with optimal use of board hardware devices and software resources.
• Demonstrate cross-functional collaboration with Product Marketing, SQA and other development teams to ensure software meets all performance, scalability, interoperability and security requirements.
• Lead the datapath team and interact cross-functionally on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines.
• Write functional and design specification documents and drive sign-off.
• Interface with developers, QA, documentation, customer support and program management teams.
• Participate in full product life cycle development.

Mandatory Skills Description:

• 8+ years of relevant industry experience in Networking/Telecom, Embedded or Network Management.
• Excellent programming knowledge in C/C++.
• Experience in software or hardware-based packet forwarding.
• Working experience with Broadcom ASICs – Trident, Jericho or Qumran.
• Software management of networking hardware resources such as TCAM, packet buffers and RIB/FIB.
• IPv4/IPv6 routing/forwarding, PBR, ACL, rate-limiting and QoS.
• MPLS, VPLS, VRF, L3VPN, VxLAN, OpenFlow and SDN.
• LLDP, LAG/LACP, Layer 2 switching and Ethernet.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to be productive in flexible and dynamic work environments.
• Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Understanding of system architecture, SDK or drivers for network processors or traffic managers.
• ASIC/FPGA experience.
• Exposure to Go and microservices architecture.

Education: B.S./B.E./B.Tech in CS/EE/ECE/IT
