Lead Release & Deployment Engineer (DevOps)

Responsibilities

• Release leadership and governance
• Own the integrated release calendar across Salesforce products, squads, and environments, as well as understanding release schedules for dependent enterprise systems.
• Working with scrum masters, technical leads and QA leads, establish and enforce release management standards, quality gates, deployment procedures, approval requirements, and readiness criteria.
• Lead release planning, readiness reviews, go/no-go decisions, deployment command center activities, and post-release validation efforts.
• Facilitate coordination across product, engineering, architecture, QA, security, support, infrastructure, and business stakeholders.
• Manage release risks, dependencies, environment conflicts, production support considerations, and mitigation plans.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise change management processes, CAB requirements, audit expectations, and regulatory controls.
• Produce release communications, stakeholder updates, executive summaries, deployment status reporting, and release performance metrics.
• Salesforce Deployment Automation: Build, maintain, and optimize Salesforce CI/CD pipelines supporting application delivery across Dev, QA Test, Stage, and Production environments.
• Salesforce Deployment Automation: Execute Salesforce deployments using approved DevOps platforms and deployment automation tools.
• Salesforce Deployment Automation: Administer and enhance deployment automation processes to reduce manual effort, deployment risk, and cycle times.
• Troubleshoot deployment failures, metadata conflicts, pipeline errors, and release issues.
• Partner with development teams to continuously improve deployment practices, source control standards, and release automation capabilities.
• Establish reusable deployment templates, automation accelerators, and engineering best practices that improve delivery efficiency across teams.
• Source Control & Branch Management: Own enterprise Salesforce Git strategy, repository governance, branching models, merge standards, and code promotion processes.
• Source Control & Branch Management: Manage release branches, feature branches, hotfix branches, and production support branches.
• Source Control & Branch Management: Review and govern pull request processes, merge approvals, branching compliance, and deployment promotion standards.
• Source Control & Branch Management: Assist teams in resolving merge conflicts, deployment blockers, and source control issues.
• Source Control & Branch Management: Continuously improve repository structure and development workflows to support scalable multi-team delivery.
• Environment Management: Own Salesforce environment strategy including sandbox lifecycle management, refresh planning, environment utilization, and release promotion paths.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Salesforce platform engineering, release engineering, software delivery, or a related technical leadership role.
• Experience administering and working within Git-based source control environments.
• Experience executing Salesforce deployments using modern DevOps platforms.
• Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, SDLC processes, DevOps practices, and deployment automation.
• Experience managing production releases across multiple teams and environments.
• Experience troubleshooting deployment failures, metadata conflicts, source control issues, and pipeline errors.
• Strong understanding of Salesforce metadata architecture and deployment considerations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive operational discipline through influence.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
