Position Overview-

We are seeking a Lead Engineer to provide technical leadership for quality engineering and test automation across our applications. The role will focus on defining automation strategy, improving engineering quality, driving adoption of automated testing, and partnering closely with Engineering, QA, DevOps, and Product teams. The ideal candidate will have practical experience with API and UI automation, while demonstrating strong ownership, architecture, problem-solving, mentoring, and delivery leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the overall quality engineering and automation strategy across products and teams.
• Define technical direction, standards, frameworks, and best practices for automated testing.
• Assess existing quality and automation capabilities and create a roadmap for improving coverage, reliability, and execution efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership to engineers and QA automation teams, including mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance.
• Review and guide automation architecture, framework choices, reusable components, and engineering practices.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, QA, DevOps, and Support teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Drive shift-left quality practices, ensuring testability, automation, and quality considerations are incorporated during design and development.
• Identify quality risks, technical debt, automation gaps, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Establish and track engineering quality metrics such as automation coverage, regression execution time, defect leakage, and test stability.
• Lead root-cause analysis for recurring quality issues and drive corrective actions across teams.
• Drive integration of automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing practices.
• Evaluate tools and technologies for improving test efficiency, reliability, maintainability, and developer productivity.
• Coordinate with engineering leadership on release readiness, quality risks, and improvement initiatives.
• Ensure automation assets are scalable, maintainable, reusable, and aligned with enterprise engineering standards.

Automation Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical guidance for UI automation using Selenium and Java.
• Provide guidance on API automation using REST Assured and REST API testing.
• Support automation for web and mobile applications where required.
• Review and improve existing automation frameworks, test suites, and reusable utilities.
• Guide implementation of functional, regression, smoke, and integration automation.
• Ensure automated tests are integrated into CI/CD pipelines and provide actionable test results.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience working with enterprise applications.
• Good hands-on experience with UI automation, preferably Selenium with Java.
• Good experience with API automation and REST API testing; REST Assured experience is preferred.
• Understanding of automation framework architecture, test design, and maintainable automation practices.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Good understanding of Agile/Scrum development practices.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Ability to influence engineering teams without relying solely on formal authority.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to translate quality and automation objectives into actionable engineering plans.
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising engineering and automation maturity across teams.
• Strong ownership, accountability, and ability to drive initiatives from strategy through execution.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Azure / Azure DevOps.
• Experience with mobile automation using Appium.
• Exposure to performance, security, or non-functional testing.
• Experience with cloud-based test gxecution platforms such as BrowserStack, LambdaTest, or Sauce Labs.
• Exposure to AI-assisted software testing and developer productivity tools.
• Knowledge of Microsoft CRM will be an advantage.
