Lead Platform Engineer - GCP

Role Overview We are looking for a hands-on Platform Engineering Lead to build and evolve our cloud platform foundation. This role will own the engineering systems that enable product teams to build, deploy, operate, and scale reliable applications. You will move us from manual infrastructure operations to a self-service, automated, secure, and developer-friendly platform model. This is not a traditional infrastructure support role. We are looking for an engineer who thinks like a product builder — someone who writes code, automates everything possible, creates reusable platforms, and improves engineering velocity.

Key Responsibilities Platform Engineering * Design and build internal developer platforms and engineering enablement capabilities. * Create self-service workflows for application teams to provision infrastructure, deploy services, and manage environments. * Define and implement engineering standards for cloud-native application delivery. * Build reusable infrastructure components and automation frameworks. Cloud Infrastructure & Automation * Own and evolve our Google Cloud Platform architecture. * Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code. * Build and maintain Terraform modules for cloud resources. * Design scalable patterns for: * Cloud Run services * Cloud SQL * Pub/Sub * Cloud Storage * Firebase * IAM and networking * Compute workloads Developer Experience & CI/CD * Build robust CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation. * Create golden paths/templates for engineering teams. * Improve developer productivity through tooling and automation. * Establish environment creation, configuration management, and release processes. Reliability Engineering * Define and implement SRE practices: * Service Level Objectives (SLOs) * Monitoring and alerting * Incident response * Capacity planning * Disaster recovery * Build automation for operational tasks and reduce manual intervention. Security & Compliance Engineering * Implement cloud security best practices: * IAM governance * Secrets management * Vulnerability management * Security automation * Audit readiness * Partner with security and compliance teams to build continuous controls. AI-Assisted Operations * Explore and implement AI-powered engineering workflows: * Automated incident analysis * Infrastructure troubleshooting assistants * Code and configuration generation * Operational knowledge management * Build systems where AI agents can safely assist engineering operations. Required Experience * 6+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles. * Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform. * Strong programming ability in at least one language: * Python * Go * JavaScript/TypeScript * Go preferred for infrastructure tooling * Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code: * Terraform mandatory * Experience designing CI/CD systems. * Experience building automation tools and internal platforms. * Strong understanding of: * Linux systems * Networking fundamentals * Containers * Cloud security * Observability Preferred Experience * Experience building Internal Developer Platforms (IDP). * Experience with Kubernetes/GKE is a plus. * Experience in regulated industries (FinTech, Banking, Insurance, Healthcare) is preferred. * Experience implementing security and compliance automation. * Experience with production systems at scale.
