Lead API Test Engineer / Lead SDET with deep expertise in

Java-based test automation and

API testing across

REST and GraphQL services . The role involves

technical leadership ,

test strategy ownership , and

hands-on automation , ensuring high-quality delivery of scalable, enterprise-grade systems. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy

• Define and own API testing strategy and test architecture across programs
• Lead and mentor a team of test engineers and SDETs
• Establish best practices, coding standards, and quality benchmarks
• Work closely with architects, product owners, and development teams to ensure testability
• Provide estimation, planning, and risk assessment from a quality perspective API & Automation Testing
• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based API automation frameworks
• Test and validate: + RESTful APIs + GraphQL APIs
• Perform manual and automated API testing using: + Postman + Rest Assured
• Implement contract testing using Pact to ensure consumer‑provider compatibility
• Create and manage service virtualization and mocks using WireMock
• Validate complex service integrations and microservices interactions Frameworks & Engineering Excellence
• Build scalable and reusable automation components using: + Java + JUnit / TestNG + Cucumber (BDD preferred)
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
• Ensure high code quality through reviews and test automation refactoring
• Champion shift‑left testing and continuous testing practices Quality Assurance & Process
• Strong ownership of Test Processes, STLC, and Quality Metrics
• Conduct test reviews, defect triage, and root cause analysis
• Drive continuous improvement in automation coverage and test effectiveness
• Ensure proper test reporting, traceability, and release sign‑off Required Skills Core Technical Skills
• Strong proficiency in Java
• Extensive experience in API testing: + RESTful APIs + GraphQL APIs
• Hands-on expertise with: + Postman + Rest Assured + Pact (contract testing) + WireMock (service mocking/virtualization) Testing & Framework Knowledge
• Deep understanding of Test Frameworks and test automation design patterns
• Strong knowledge of QA best practices and test methodologies
• Experience testing microservices architectures
