Role Description The Lead Engineer role at Kaiteki.ai is a full-time, position based in India. This role is responsible for leading the design, development, and deployment of core software and AI systems, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and maintainable. On a day-to-day basis, the Lead Engineer collaborates with product and research teams, reviews code, defines technical architecture, and guides the implementation of new features and improvements. The role includes mentoring engineers, establishing engineering best practices, and driving continuous improvement in performance, reliability, and development workflows. The Lead Engineer also participates in technical planning, contributes to roadmap decisions, and helps coordinate releases and production support.
Qualifications
- Strong software engineering skills, including proficiency in at least one modern programming language (such as Python, Java, or TypeScript) and experience with software design patterns.
- Experience architecting and building scalable backend systems, microservices, or distributed applications, including use of APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
- Background in AI, machine learning, or data-intensive systems is highly beneficial, with familiarity in integrating models into production environments.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and setting technical standards and best practices.
- Experience with modern development tools and workflows, such as version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring/observability.
- Strong problem-solving skills, clear communication, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in an on-site environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Previous experience in a senior or lead engineering role in a product-focused company is a plus, especially in fast-paced or startup environments.
