Lead DevOps Engineer

Role & responsibilities

1. Job Summary

Lead DevOps engineering initiatives covering Red Hat Image Mode, CI/CD pipeline development, infrastructure automation, and development environment setup.

Design, build, and maintain scalable hybrid infrastructure integrating cloud platforms and bare-metal environments.

Drive framework development, automation, and standardization to improve build, deployment, testing, and release processes.

Collaborate with development, QA, cloud, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, repeatable, and automated engineering workflows.

2. Key Responsibilities

 Red Hat Image Mode: Contribute to the implementation and management of Red Hat 

 Enterprise Linux Image Mode, including image-based OS builds, containerized OS management, image customization, updates, and lifecycle automation.

CI/CD Pipeline & Environment Setup: Design, implement, and maintain automated pipelines for building, validating, testing, and deploying software and infrastructure components.

 Framework Development: Develop reusable automation frameworks, scripts, and tools using Python, Bash, or other suitable technologies to streamline infrastructure provisioning and software delivery.

 Development VM Setup: Provision and configure development VMs, build environments, toolchains, dependencies, and access controls to enable consistent developer workflows.

 Hybrid Infrastructure Engineering: Contribute to the design and evolution of hybrid infrastructure systems spanning public/private cloud and bare-metal environments.

 Build & Release Automation: Establish standardized build, artifact management, versioning, image promotion, and release processes.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Implement pipeline monitoring, logging, failure analysis, and root-cause resolution across infrastructure and automation workflows.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with development, QA, platform, and infrastructure teams to integrate automation into engineering and release processes.

3. Technical Skills & Qualifications

Strong experience in DevOps, platform engineering, Linux system administration, and CI/CD automation.

Hands-on knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), preferably Red Hat Image Mode, bootc, and container-based OS image workflows.

Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent platforms.

Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting for automation and framework development.

Experience setting up Linux development VMs, build environments, and developer toolchains.

Knowledge of hybrid infrastructure architecture, including cloud platforms and bare-metal servers.

Experience with containers, Podman/Docker, registries, image management, and artifact repositories.

Working knowledge of Ansible, Terraform, Git, networking, security, and system troubleshooting

4. Technical Leadership

Drive DevOps architecture, automation standards, and reusable framework design.

Guide engineers in pipeline development, infrastructure automation, and operational best practices.

Identify opportunities to improve build reliability, deployment consistency, environment readiness, and engineering productivity.

Coordinate technical dependencies across development, QA, cloud, and infrastructure teams.

Contribute to technical design reviews, proof of concepts, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
