About This Opportunity Job Title: Lead Android Engineer
Location: 7-Eleven Global Solutions Center, India
Job Description: We are looking for a Senior/Lead Android Engineer to lead the evolution of our Android Design System and component platform. This role focuses on building scalable, reusable UI foundations that power experiences across 7‑Eleven digital products. You will partner with Design Systems, UX, Product, and Engineering teams to build reusable Jetpack Compose components, theming frameworks, accessibility standards, and UI architecture patterns used across multiple mobile experiences.
Design System Ownership
- Lead the architecture and development of reusable Android UI components using Jetpack Compose.
- Design and maintain scalable component libraries consumed across multiple applications and teams.
- Define standards for component APIs, extensibility, backward compatibility, and versioning.
- Drive consistent implementation of design system principles across Android experiences.
UI Architecture & Platform Engineering
- Establish UI architecture patterns that balance scalability, performance, maintainability, and developer productivity.
- Build foundations for theming, design tokens, accessibility, responsiveness, and localization.
- Partner with Design System and UX teams to translate design decisions into scalable engineering solutions.
- Drive Compose-first architecture and platform modernization initiatives.
Engineering Leadership
- Define engineering standards, best practices, and governance for Android UI development.
- Review architecture decisions across teams.
- Mentor engineers on Compose architecture, component design, and frontend engineering practices.
- Improve developer experience through tooling, documentation, testing, and automation.
Responsibilities: ● Lead the development of customer facing Android applications preferably E-Commerce from start to finish. ● Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and engineering, to develop and implement new features. ● Mentor and guide other Android developers on the team, providing technical leadership and guidance. ● Collaborate with Quality, Product and Cloud Engineering teams to keep digital assets fully functional, secure, and up to date with business needs. ● Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve the development process and application performance. ● Ensure that applications meet high standards of quality, performance, and reliability. ● Participate in code reviews, ensuring that code is maintainable, scalable, and efficient. ● Stay up to date with new trends and technologies in Android development.
Technical Skills Required: ● Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field. ● 9+ years of experience in Android development, with a strong portfolio of Android applications. ● Must have experience in cloud services (preferable AWS), CI/CD solution and monitoring tools. ● Experience with native Android frameworks. ● Extensive experience with Java and/or Kotlin. ● Proficiency in Android frameworks such as Android SDK, Jetpack compose, Kotlin multi-platform, Android Studio, and Gradle. ● Experience with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to backend services. ● Proven ability to lead and mentor other Android developers. ● Familiarity with Agile development methodologies. ● Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 7-Eleven Global Solution Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
