Lead Design Engineer

Role & responsibilities:

• Design & develop complete seat system, including the seat structure, mechanisms, headrests, Seat Cushion (Foam) and mounting brackets. Knowledge of product life cycle of Seat system design & development
• Should have good hands-on experience with Catia V5 & PLM software.
• Perform packaging studies, kinematics simulations, and ensure designs comply with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Ensure the seat system and its components meet all required functional and regulatory standards (e.g., ECE R14, R17, R21, FMVSS & AIS).
• Ability to lead & interact with cross functional teams, suppliers for design & development activities.
• Create & manage engineering documentation including drawings, reports & release documentation
• Support prototype builds and testing, conduct root cause analysis for design-related issues, and contribute to continuous improvement through design validation and benchmarking.
• Contribute to project management by ensuring engineering deliverables are met on time and within budget, managing milestones from concept to launch
• Can represent the OEM CoC and coordinate with seat system suppliers for product design and development.
• He will be SPOC for Seat within OEM & Development supplier

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering or related field.
• professional experience in automotive seat system design & development
• Extensive experience with 3D CAD software such as CATIA V5/V6
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, GD&T, DFM/DFA, and material selection (metal, foam, textiles).
• Familiarity with automotive seating regulations, occupant safety, and ergonomics.
• Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Experience in leading projects is a plus.Ability to communicate effectively with customers & suppliers
• Understanding of material science, manufacturing processes(Plastic, Sheet metal, Foam, Trims) & DFM/DFA
  

EXPERIENCE BAND

• 6 to 10 years of professional experience in automotive seat system design & development
