Lead Carpenter / Joinery Maintenance Lead

Job summary: -

We are looking for experienced Lead Carpenters / Joinery Maintenance Leads with strong hands-on experience in the repair, maintenance and refurbishment of wooden furniture, joinery and interior fit-out works. The candidate should be capable of leading a team and handling day-to-day maintenance and repair requirements.

Role & responsibilities

• Lead and supervise carpenters/joinery technicians in daily maintenance activities.
• Carry out repair, maintenance and refurbishment of wooden furniture such as tables, chairs, cabinets, wardrobes, doors and other wooden fixtures.
• Repair and maintain joinery and woodwork installed as part of interior fit-outs.
• Carry out repairs to doors, frames, skirting, wall panels, cupboards, counters, partitions and decorative woodwork.
• Identify damaged or defective wooden components and determine the appropriate repair or replacement method.
• Handle minor fabrication and modification of wooden components as required.
• Repair loose joints, damaged surfaces, hinges, locks, handles and other hardware associated with furniture and joinery.
• Carry out sanding, polishing, varnishing, staining and other finishing/rectification works where required.
• Read and understand basic drawings, dimensions and joinery details.
• Coordinate with the maintenance/facilities team and report completed works and material requirements.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of carpentry tools and equipment.
• Maintain good workmanship, safety standards and housekeeping at the work location.
• Guide and train junior carpenters/technicians.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong practical experience in carpentry, joinery and furniture repair/maintenance.
• Good experience in repair and maintenance of wooden furniture and joinery in fit-out/interior environments.
• Experience in commercial buildings, hotels, residential developments, malls, offices or similar facilities is preferred.
• Previous experience in a lead/supervisory role is preferred.
• Good knowledge of different types of wood, boards, veneers, laminates, finishes and furniture hardware.
• Able to diagnose repair requirements and complete jobs with minimum supervision.
