We're seeking someone to join our Technology Risk Controls Engineering team as Lead Automation QA Engineer with GenAI in Cyber Data Risk & Resilience division to Drive end-to-end test strategy, automation, and quality assurance for services, data pipelines, batches, databases and UI components Champion the use of AI and modern automation tooling to deliver efficient, scalable, and risk-aware testing solutions. Collaborate with technology and business partners and co-own the success of the applications under purview.

The TRCE (Technology Risk and Control Engineering) team is a specialized group within Morgan Stanley focused on managing and mitigating technology-related risks. What you'll do in the role: The ideal candidate will act as the Lead QE (Individual Contributor) for the TRCE platform, owning end-to-end test strategy, planning, and execution across regular releases and key programs. Own the full STLC — entry/exit criteria, environment readiness, release sign-off, and production stability guardrails Design and evolve automation frameworks for functional, regression, and integration testing across UI, API, and data layers Build and maintain UI automation using Playwright (Selenium acceptable for legacy suites) Build and maintain API and data test automation in Python using pytest and Requests/HTTPx; BDD via pytest-bdd or Behave where it adds value Identify and pilot AI-assisted testing opportunities (e.g., test-case generation, self-healing locators, visual validation) and scale what shows measurable ROI Define and report QE KPIs — coverage, defect leakage, automation %, cycle time — and drive continuous improvement against them Mentor junior QE engineers on test design, framework usage, and engineering discipline Partner with Dev, SRE, and business stakeholders on shift-left practices, risk-based testing, and release risk assessment Provide executive-level status, risk, and quality updates to senior tech and business leadership
What you'll bring to the role: 10–14 years in Quality Engineering with a strong hands-on Individual Contributor track record at a senior / lead level Expert-level Python automation — pytest, Requests/HTTPx, and Playwright; comfortable designing frameworks from scratch, not just writing tests Proven experience designing and scaling functional, regression, and integration automation suites in a CI/CD pipeline Deep grounding in testing fundamentals — test strategy, risk-based test planning, STLC, entry/exit criteria, and release sign-off Working knowledge of Java and SQL for cross-stack debugging and data validation Proficiency in Linux for test environment setup and troubleshooting Demonstrated experience mentoring junior QE engineers and raising the technical bar of a team Strong written and verbal communication — comfortable presenting quality posture to senior stakeholders Lead Automation QA Engineer _ Vice President _ QA Engineering
