Laundry washer

Job Summary

We are looking for a responsible and experienced Laundry Washer with knowledge of boiler operation for our hospital laundry department. The candidate will be responsible for washing, disinfecting, drying, and handling hospital linen while safely operating laundry equipment and assisting with boiler operations as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, sort, wash, disinfect, dry, and fold hospital linen as per hospital procedures.
• Operate industrial washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment.
• Handle soiled and contaminated linen while strictly following infection-control procedures.
• Use detergents, disinfectants, and other laundry chemicals safely and correctly.
• Have working knowledge of boiler operation, steam supply, pressure monitoring, and basic boiler safety procedures.
• Monitor boiler/steam supply used for laundry operations and immediately report any abnormal condition or equipment fault.
• Follow all safety procedures while operating or assisting with boiler-related activities.
• Maintain proper separation of soiled and clean linen to prevent cross-contamination.
• Inspect washed linen for cleanliness, stains, and damage.
• Maintain cleanliness of the laundry area, machines, and surrounding work area.
• Maintain basic records of laundry loads, equipment operation, and linen movement when required.
• Report equipment breakdowns, safety issues, or maintenance requirements to the supervisor.
• Follow hospital infection-control, fire-safety, occupational-safety, and PPE requirements.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Laundry Supervisor or Hospital Management.

Qualification & Experience

• Minimum 8th/10th standard qualification preferred.
• Previous experience in hospital laundry, commercial laundry, hotel laundry, or similar facility preferred.
• Practical knowledge of boiler operation and steam-based laundry systems is an advantage.
