Role & responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the laboratory.
• Ensure accurate, reliable, and timely reporting of laboratory test results.
• Manage and allocate duties to laboratory staff according to workload and competency.
• Maintain quality control and quality assurance standards in all laboratory processes.
• Ensure proper collection, identification, handling, storage, and transportation of specimens.
• Monitor the functioning, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
• Maintain adequate stock of reagents, consumables, and other laboratory supplies.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor laboratory hygiene, infection control, and biomedical waste management.
• Review and verify laboratory reports before releasing critical or important results.
• Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of laboratory records and registers.
• Train, guide, and evaluate laboratory staff to improve their knowledge and performance.
• Investigate and take corrective action for errors, complaints, and quality-related issues.
• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, hospital departments, and other diagnostic services.
• Prepare laboratory reports, statistics, duty rosters, and other administrative documents.
• Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information and laboratory reports.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• Candidate with immediate joiner preferred.
• Relevant experience in a hospital or multispeciality laboratory, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality control, and quality assurance.
• Good understanding of NABL, NABH, biomedical waste management, and laboratory safety standards.
• Experience in handling laboratory equipment, reagents, inventory, and maintenance.
• Good leadership, team management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage workload efficiently and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) and basic computer applications.
• Ability to handle critical situations and resolve operational issues effectively.
• Strong commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
