Kafka Admin

We are seeking a skilled Kafka Administrator to manage, monitor, and optimize Apache Kafka clusters in a production environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and security of Kafka infrastructure while supporting application teams and troubleshooting production issues. Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and administer Apache Kafka clusters.
• Manage Kafka brokers, topics, partitions, replication, and consumer groups.
• Perform Kafka cluster upgrades, patching, and capacity planning.
• Monitor Kafka health, performance, and availability using monitoring tools.
• Configure and manage Kafka security, including SSL/TLS, SASL, and ACLs.
• Troubleshoot Kafka production issues, broker failures, replication lag, and performance bottlenecks.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies.
• Tune Kafka performance for optimal throughput and latency.
• Work closely with application, DevOps, and platform teams to support Kafka-based applications.
• Automate operational tasks using scripting (Shell, Python, or similar).
• Maintain documentation, operational procedures, and standard operating practices.
• Participate in on-call support and incident management. Required Skills
• Strong experience with Apache Kafka administration.
• Knowledge of Kafka architecture, brokers, topics, partitions, replication, ISR, and ZooKeeper or KRaft mode.
• Experience with Kafka Connect, Kafka MirrorMaker, and Schema Registry.
• Hands-on experience with Linux system administration.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes deployments.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or ELK.
• Good understanding of networking, security, SSL certificates, and authentication mechanisms.
• Experience with automation using Shell scripting, Python, or Ansible.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills. Preferred Skills
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of Confluent Platform.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Kafka certification or relevant cloud certifications are an advantage
