Company Description Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIITG) is an Institute of National Importance established under the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (Public-Private Partnership) Act, 2017. The institute offers B.Tech programs in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and runs PhD programs in CSE, ECE, Mathematics, and Humanities and Social Sciences. IIITG has steadily expanded its academic offerings and research activities since beginning operations in August 2013. The first batch of B.Tech students graduated in May 2017, followed by the institute's first convocation in May 2018. IIITG provides a growing, research-focused environment for individuals interested in advanced study and innovation in information technology and allied disciplines.
Role Description The Junior Research Fellow and Doctoral Candidate role is a full-time, on-site position based at IIIT Guwahati in Guwahati. The role involves conducting high-quality research under the guidance of a faculty supervisor, including literature review, formulation of research problems, design and implementation of experiments or models, and analysis of results. The candidate will contribute to publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, prepare technical reports, and support project-related documentation. Day-to-day responsibilities also include participation in seminars and group meetings, assisting in laboratory or departmental activities, and engaging in coursework and academic requirements associated with the PhD program. The role expects active collaboration with faculty, researchers, and students, and a commitment to maintaining research integrity and academic standards.
Qualifications

• Strong academic background in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Mathematics, or related fields, typically with a completed Master's or exceptional Bachelor's degree.
• Demonstrated research aptitude, including ability to conduct literature reviews, formulate research questions, and apply appropriate methodologies and analytical techniques.
• Proficiency in technical writing and communication, including preparation of research papers, reports, and presentations in clear, professional English.
• Ability to work systematically and independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment, with strong time management and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with relevant tools, programming languages, or laboratory techniques appropriate to the candidate's specialization (e.g., data analysis software, simulation tools, or experimental setups).
• Motivation to pursue doctoral research, openness to feedback, and commitment to ethical research conduct and continuous learning.
• Prior research experience, publications, or project work in related areas will be considered an advantage.
