About this role
About eDOT Solutions eDOT Solutions is a maritime technology and AI company headquartered in Vasco Da Gama, Goa, founded in 2004 by Capt. Ruchin C. Dayal (Master Mariner, President — IIMS UK). We build AI-powered platforms for the global shipping industry, serving ship management companies, maritime training institutes, and flag states worldwide. Our team of 85 professionals spans development, design, maritime domain expertise, and laboratory operations. We operate six live AI products including IntellisNET, our maritime cybersecurity platform built to satisfy IMO Resolution MSC.428(98) obligations under the ISM Code. IntellisNET was originally co-developed with ClassNK (Nippon Kaiji Kyokai) in 2019 and is currently in active production development, moving toward global fleet deployment.
What you will actually be doing This role sits at the intersection of two workstreams inside IntellisNET and you will contribute equally to both. Working with Rohit, our OT Risk Methodology Specialist:
- Learning and applying the IntellisNET risk scoring framework — a four-pillar formula grounded in NIST SP 800-82 and IEC 62443
- Assisting in building and maintaining the OT asset taxonomy database — the engine that pre-populates equipment lists by vessel type, DWT, and build year
- Supporting the OEM whitelist construction — identifying and cataloguing authorised OEM network traffic signatures from technical documentation
- Helping validate risk assessment outputs against real vessel network scan data
- Growing your understanding of vessel network architecture — IDMZ, OT/IT segmentation, ECDIS, AIS, propulsion control systems Working with Dev 1, our Backend Developer:
- Supporting the NVD CVE pipeline — pulling vulnerability data from the National Vulnerability Database API, mapping CPE strings, and assigning CVSS scores to assets
- Assisting in building and testing the FRS (Finding Risk Score) calculation engine
- Supporting passive listener development — a system that monitors IDMZ boundary traffic to detect OT network breaches without active scanning
- Writing and running test cases for the scoring engine against worked examples
- Maintaining Python scripts used across the risk and scoring architecture
The environment you will be working in Commercial vessels operate with a strict IT/OT network separation enforced by an IDMZ (Industrial Demilitarized Zone). OT assets — navigation systems, engine management, propulsion control — sit behind this boundary and cannot be actively scanned. Your work will help build the intelligence layer that monitors, scores, and reports on vessel cyber risk without ever touching the OT network directly. This is a domain where fewer than a handful of commercial platforms exist globally. The work you do here will not be replicated in a typical IT company environment.
What we are looking for Essential:
- B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Electronics — 0 to 2 years of experience
- Solid fundamentals in TCP/IP networking — you must understand how packets move, what ports mean, and how network segments work
- Basic Linux command line comfort — you do not need to be a sysadmin, but you must not be afraid of a terminal
- Python scripting — not advanced, but able to read, write, and debug scripts
- Understanding of what a CVE is, what a CVSS score means, and where vulnerability data comes from
- Ability to work from a written specification document and ask the right questions when something is unclear
- Comfortable with numbers and formulas — the scoring engine involves real mathematics that must be implemented precisely Advantageous:
- Any exposure to Wireshark, Nmap, Zeek, or Suricata — even academic or self-taught
- Familiarity with REST API consumption in Python
- Awareness of IEC 62443 or NIST SP 800-82, even at introductory level
- Any project or coursework involving network security, packet analysis, or vulnerability assessment
- Exposure to maritime systems, vessel operations, or the shipping industry
What we offer
- Permanent employment at eDOT Solutions headquarters, Vasco Da Gama, Goa
- Direct mentorship by experienced professionals
- Exposure to a live, globally deployed cybersecurity platform from your first week
- A clear growth path — this role is designed to develop into the permanent internal OT security engineering capability for IntellisNET as the platform scales
- The opportunity to work on a platform targeting approximately 55,000 vessels under IMO cyber mandate — a market that is at the very beginning of its technology adoption curve
- You will be joining at the point of transition from self-funded R&D to capital-activated growth
Who this role is not for
- Candidates looking for a frontend or mobile development position — this is backend, network, and data pipeline work only
- Candidates who want to work remotely — this role requires daily on-site presence at our Goa office
- Candidates with no networking fundamentals — TCP/IP is not optional here
