Junior Automation Testing Engineer who will be responsible for building, executing, and maintaining automated test frameworks that ensure the quality and reliability of our platform. You will work alongside senior engineers to develop robust test suites, monitor regression pipelines, and contribute to a culture of quality across our engineering teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 1+ year of hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright
• JavaScript — including async/await, ES6+ features, and module patterns used in test scripting
• SQL fundamentals — DDL/DML operations including SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and multi-table JOINs for data validation
• AWS basic cloud concepts — familiarity with services like S3, Lambda, CloudWatch and ECS from a QA/infrastructure awareness perspective
• AI/LLM tooling — understanding of AI-assisted test generation, prompt-based workflows, or co-pilot tools used in modern QA pipelines

Expected Immediate

Key Responsibilities 1. Automation Test Script Development

• Cypress and Playwright frameworks for web-based SaaS applications.
• Translate manual test cases, acceptance criteria, and user stories into reliable, maintainable automated tests.
• Write clean, modular JavaScript test code following page-object model (POM) or component-based patterns to maximize reusability.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and developers to identify automation opportunities and expand overall test coverage.

2. Regression Framework Maintenance

• Own day-to-day health of the regression suite — monitor run stability, identify and triage flaky tests, and implement fixes promptly.
• Maintain and update existing test suites as application features evolve, ensuring tests remain accurate and aligned with current functionality.
• Contribute to framework improvements: configuration management, shared utilities, custom commands, and environment-specific setups (local, staging, CI).
• Participate in CI/CD pipeline integration, ensuring automated tests run reliably on pull requests and scheduled regression cycles.

3. Bug Monitoring & Defect Management

• Monitor daily test execution results, analyze failures, and distinguish genuine defects from environment or data issues.
• Log clear, reproducible bug reports in Azure DevOps with steps to reproduce, expected vs actual outcomes, logs, and screenshots.
• Track defect lifecycle from discovery through verification, collaborating with developers to confirm fixes and re-run validation tests.
• Produce concise daily/weekly status summaries for team leads covering pass/fail metrics, open defects, and pipeline health.

4. SQL-Based Data Validation

• Write and execute SQL queries (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, JOINs) to verify backend data integrity as part of end-to-end test workflows.
• Validate database state pre- and post-test to confirm that application operations produce correct and consistent data outcomes.
• Support test data setup and teardown through SQL scripts, maintaining clean and reproducible test environments.

5. Cloud & Infrastructure Awareness

• Gain familiarity with AWS services (CloudWatch, S3, ECS/Lambda) to interpret log outputs and assist in root cause analysis of test failures.
• Support infrastructure-level test scenarios such as multi-region behavior, environment parity checks, and service-level health validations.

6. AI-Assisted Quality Engineering

• Leverage AI/LLM-based tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to accelerate test script generation, refactoring, and documentation.
• Explore prompt engineering techniques to generate test scenarios, edge cases, and mock data with AI assistance.
• Stay current with AI developments relevant to QA — including AI-driven test generation, intelligent test selection, and anomaly detection.

7. Collaboration & Continuous Learning

• Work closely with QA leads, developers, and product engineers in sprint ceremonies — contributing to test planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Author and update test documentation, test plans, and runbooks to maintain clarity across the team.
• Proactively develop skills in test automation, cloud platforms, and modern QA practices through self-learning and peer mentorship.
