About this role
- Design and develop jigs, fixtures, machining fixtures, gauges and tooling for forged and machined components.
- Design fixtures for CNC Turning, VMC, drilling, milling, tapping, boring and grinding operations.
- Read and interpret component, forging and machining drawings.
- Apply 3-2-1 locating principles, GD&T, tolerance stack-up and proper clamping concepts.
- Design manual, hydraulic and pneumatic clamping arrangements.
- Prepare 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, assemblies and BOMs.
- Select suitable standard components, materials and locating/clamping elements.
- Support fixture manufacturing, assembly, trials and prove-out on the shop floor.
- Troubleshoot fixture-related issues such as component movement, vibration, misalignment and repeatability.
- Coordinate with Production, Tool Room, Quality, Forging and CNC Programming teams.
- Implement improvements to reduce setup time, rejection, rework and tooling cost.
