Java Team Lead

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The IT Delivery Team Lead will be part of our Customer Portal domain, a team managing multiple services that cover a wide range of commercial functionalitiesfrom online offer and order management to claims tracking and non-prime salesall supported by a modern, multi-technology IT ecosystem (Java, Angular, REST APIs).

As a key member of the IT organization, you will lead the evolution of our systems to meet business needs and align with strategic objectives.

Beyond the team leadership role, the ideal candidate will also act as Lead IT Analyst within the Customer Portal domain. You will play a pivotal role in designing, delivering, and continuously improving our digital services for Flat Europe customers. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will be responsible for technical analysis, solution design, and development, ensuring compliance with architectural principles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & team development

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IT professionals, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices.
• Define objectives, conduct performance reviews, and support career growth.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.

Technical expertise & solution design

• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong technical knowledge, managing change requests and projects autonomously.
• Translate business needs into actionable IT solutions, ensuring alignment with architecture principles and strategic goals.
• Design and validate functional and technical solutions considering scalability, performance, and system dependencies.

Business alignment & governance

• Serve as the primary liaison between onshore stakeholders and offshore teams, clarifying requirements and managing expectations.
• Enforce development and testing standards, acting as quality gatekeeper for complex or high-impact projects.
• Drive change and release management processes in compliance with governance protocols.

Project & change management

• Support business and IT testing to guarantee solution quality.
• Ensure accurate documentation and coordinate validation efforts.

Testing, documentation & user support

• Ensure accurate and timely documentation, coordinating validation efforts and supporting offshore teams in producing high-quality test scenarios and user support materials.
• Support end users through the established User Support structure.

Continuous improvement & knowledge management

• Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and technical excellence.
• Enhance process efficiency and identify improvement opportunities.
• Safeguard technical expertise through active documentation and knowledge sharing.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Your strong analytical skills enable you to translate complex business and technical requirements into optimized IT solutions. With a solid IT background and hands-on development experience, you can challenge architectural decisions, contribute to solution design and development, and successfully manage technically oriented projects.

Technical Expertise

• Proven experience as Lead IT Analyst (or Lead Software Engineer) + Team Lead in an Agile environment.
• Ability to work with multi-component applications and ensure seamless integration.
• Solid knowledge of software development lifecycle and best practices.

Core Technologies

• Java ecosystem and related frameworks.
• Front-end development using Angular, TypeScript, and responsive design principles.
• Secure REST APIs, including documentation standards such as OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Relational database design and advanced querying.

PREFERRED TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• CI/CD practices and tools experience with Azure DevOps is a plus.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerization.
• Experience with API management and gateway solutions.
