Java Software Architect

Role & responsibilities

• Lead Java application assessment, modernisation, migration, and platform upgrades.
• Drive JBoss EAP migration and Java/Jakarta EE compatibility remediation.
• Define scalable, secure, high-performing enterprise application architectures.
• Assess application dependencies, frameworks, integrations, and security risks.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance, architecture reviews, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Design REST APIs, messaging solutions, microservices, and enterprise integrations.
• Collaborate with development, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, security, and business teams.
• Support technical estimation, migration planning, risk management, and implementation.
• Leverage AI-assisted development and modernisation tools to accelerate code analysis, remediation, testing, and documentation.
• Mentor development teams and establish architecture and coding best practices.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong Java/J2EE enterprise application development and architecture experience.
• Hands-on experience with JBoss EAP / Red Hat application platforms and migration or version upgrades.
• Knowledge of Java/Jakarta EE compatibility, framework upgrades, and code remediation.
• Experience in enterprise application modernisation, migration, and re-platforming.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, application integration, databases, security, and distributed systems.
• Understanding of cloud, CI/CD, DevOps, and application security.
• Strong technical leadership, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills.
