Job Description: Assistant Manager Java Full Stack

Position Overview

Located in Mumbai, the Assistant Manager (Java Full Stack) will join the GMIT-Prime department. The Prime business line provides a sophisticated suite of services to hedge funds and major financial institutions, including Cash, Synthetics, Trade Processing, Margin, and Financing.

As a Senior Developer, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining high-performance, event-driven, low-latency, and high-throughput applications. You will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between junior developers and complex application requirements, ensuring technical debt is minimized while maintaining a best-in-class DevOps environment. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, architectural thinking, and mentorship capabilities.

Job Responsibilities

Application Development & Leadership

• Lead the end-to-end development, enhancement, and support of core applications, including bug-fixing and performance tuning.
• Propose technical solutions and architectural approaches that align with organizational infrastructure constraints.
• Conduct impact analyses for proposed changes and provide accurate work estimations.
• Mentor junior team members, fostering their technical growth and helping them navigate complex application needs.
• Ensure all development work adheres to organizational standards and follows the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Operational Excellence & Delivery

• Maintain rigorous documentation via Wiki and track project progress using Jira.
• Ensure timely delivery of project milestones and maintain high quality regarding scope, defect management, and testing.
• Liaise closely with production release and support teams to ensure seamless application stability.
• Proactively identify and escalate technical or functional problems to local management with suggested solutions.

Required Skills and Experience

Technical Competencies

• Backend: Expert-level proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, Hibernate, and SQL.
• Architecture: Strong experience with Microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Frontend: Proficiency in Angular.
• Messaging & Streaming: Hands-on experience with Kafka for event-driven architectures.
• DevOps: Practical experience with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Sonar, BitBucket, and Rundeck.
• Performance: Proven ability in performance tuning for high-throughput environments.

• Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field.

Good to Have Skills and Experience

• Messaging: Experience with IBM MQ.
• Scripting: Proficiency in Python.
• Data/Caching: Experience with Redis or Oracle Coherence.
