Job Description:

• Senior Platform Engineer - Apache Open-Source Data Platform
• A Senior Platform Engineer to build and run enterprise-grade data platforms using Apache open-source technologies. This role is focused on platform engineering and operations. The engineer will own platform architecture, automation, reliability, security, and operability across on-prem and cloud (Azure preferred), with deep hands-on coding in Java, Python, Kubernetes, and Linux.
• Experience Requires 8+ years of hands-on experience in platform/infrastructure or distributed systems operations, with proven production expertise building and running Apache-stack platforms on Kubernetes.
• Key Responsibilities
• 1. Design and engineer a cloud-native, multi-tenant Apache data platform for on-prem and Azure.
• 2. Build platform services and operators using Java and Python for lifecycle automation.
• 3. Standardize Kubernetes deployment patterns for Apache stack components (Helm, manifests, policies).
• 4. Build and maintain hardened Docker images for all platform runtimes and services.
• 5. Architect and operate Spark platform capabilities for batch and streaming workloads.
• 6. Implement and maintain Iceberg-based Lakehouse platform foundations and table governance controls.
• 7. Build CI/CD platform pipelines in Azure DevOps for automated build, test, release, and rollback.
• 8. Implement platform security controls using TLS/SSL, OAuth, RBAC, secrets management, and Vault.
• 9. Engineer observability using Prometheus, Grafana,logging pipelines, SLI/SLO dashboards, and alerting.
• 10. Lead platform incident response, root-cause analysis, patching, upgrades, and capacity engineering.
• 11. Partner with security, compliance, and consuming teams to onboard workloads and enforce enterprise standards along with CVE remediation

Core Skills

1. Strong full-stack engineer with deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, React, and Angular.

2. Proficient in modern web technologies including JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS.

3. Advanced Python scripting and automation for platform provisioning, validation, and operational runbooks.

4. Deep Kubernetes expertise (scheduling, networking, storage, security, scaling, troubleshooting).

5. Hands-on Docker expertise for image lifecycle, hardening, and runtime optimization.

6. Expert Apache Spark platform knowledge (cluster tuning, job isolation, batch + streaming)

7. Strong Apache Iceberg platform understanding (catalogs, partitioning, compaction, governance).

8. CI/CD engineering using Azure DevOps, including policy-driven release controls.

9. Strong observability and reliability engineering using Prometheus and Grafana.

Nice to Have

• Experience with MinIO and ADLS via S3-compatible patterns
• Exposure to regulated environments and audit/compliance controls
• Experience with HAproxy ingress, service mesh, and platform network security patterns
• Enterprise open source platform modernization experience
