About The Role We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer at the tech lead level to join our team working on LLM evaluation and training datasets. This role requires a hands-on approach to software development, focusing on automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of high-quality public GitHub repositories and possess the technical expertise to contribute meaningfully to our datasets that simulate real-world software engineering problems. This position offers an excellent opportunity to be at the forefront of AI research, directly impacting how large language models interact with complex codebases.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java. Strong experience with version control systems like Git, containerization tools like Docker, and setting up software pipelines is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, modify and run projects locally, and assess code quality effectively. Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is considered a plus. Additionally, familiarity with AI or LLM research, automation tools, and developer tools will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source repositories on GitHub to identify challenging tasks for LLMs.
• Set up, configure, and maintain code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup, to facilitate testing and evaluation.
• Evaluate unit test coverage and quality to ensure datasets accurately represent real-world scenarios.
• Modify and execute codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding tasks.
• Collaborate closely with research teams to design datasets and identify repositories that present meaningful challenges for AI models.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring project milestones are met.
